Kids are like sponges! They love learning new information and are delighted to show off their new skills. I offer a program from Brighter Beginnings that helps them learn letters, colors, shapes, sorting, classifying. They get to glue, cut and play games too. In addition to this, they will start learning their phonics, how to write correctly and begin to read.
Kindergarten-Middle School
I offer programs that help build a framework for writing, reading and spelling. I use phonics as a starting point and help students recognize patterns in words they can't read, so they can break them apart using "chunking." This allows them to read words correctly, increasing comprehension and ease in spelling. It is my main goal for students to understand that the framework in stories is also relevant to their own writing.
Most help in mathematics revolves around specific coaching in weaker areas. Word problems are often solved with a process that helps kids sort information.
I believe it is imperative for every subject that I teach to be infused with study skills. Problem areas in Social Studies, Science and other subjects are commonly solved through application of study skills.
What to expect
• Initial Phonics Test and/or Mathematics evaluation
• One hour sessions broken into 50 min. instruction/ 10 min. parent conference
• Learning Binders containing a running communication log
• Consistant documentation of progress, goals and material covered
• All materials are provided
• Option to use my materials or work on school work
• Problem Solving to meet specific needs
